Qinzhou in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has been welcoming opportunities brought by the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and the construction of the Pinglu Canal, local media outlets reported on Aug 30.

Qinzhou's automated container terminal is the world's first fully automated container terminal that adopts a U-shaped layout. It is also the first automated sea-rail inter-modal container terminal in China.

By developing its current automation system, information exchange and sharing between maritime and railway transportation modes has been realized.

Zhu Liangzhong of China Railway United International Container Guangxi Company, said that the operation of Qinzhou Railway Central Container Station solved the "last mile" problem in the sea-rail and road-rail inter-modal transport network.

Together with hub stations in cities such as Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an and Kunming , Qinzhou has become a key transportation node for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

Currently, Qinzhou Port operates 70 shipping routes, including 42 foreign trade routes that connect to 393 ports in 119 countries and regions. From January to July this year, the port handled a cargo throughput of 107 million metric tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.3 percent.
