Guangxi streamlines fruit trade
With the accelerated development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the growth of multimodal transportation, more ASEAN fruits, such as Musang King durians, are being shipped to Guangxi, with land transport reaching consumers the same day and sea transport taking as fast as in four days, allowing more consumers to enjoy fresh fruits and promoting ASEAN fruit trade.
ASEAN serves as China's largest source of imported fruits, with beloved fruits like durians and mangosteens imported through Guangxi ports. Additionally, Guangxi is China's leading province in fruit production, boasting nearly 300 varieties. The China-ASEAN Mercantile Exchange, located in Nanning, Guangxi, provides one-stop shopping for these imported fruits from ASEAN, benefiting enterprises domestically and abroad.
Utilizing Guangxi's potential to deepen China-ASEAN fruit trade cooperation is crucial. The favorable development environment and industrial clustering have attracted numerous enterprises, fostering a mutually beneficial situation.
To address concerns of foreign trade enterprises, the Wuxiang New Area has established the China-ASEAN Cross-border Trade Finance Interconnection Platform. This platform has expedited settlement processes from three to five working days to same-day application and completion.
The platform involves eight pilot banks and has facilitated settlements exceeding 76 million yuan ($10 million) since its operation in September 2024, laying the foundation for a financial hub serving ASEAN trade.
