The new customs supervision model has been recently introduced at Youyiguan Port, recognized as one of the largest and most accessible land ports linking China and Vietnam. This model employs advanced technological methods to enhance the efficiency and capacity of customs clearance. The development of China's first cross-border smart port at Youyiguan Port is accelerating, with trial operations for the Chinese section scheduled to commence later this year.

Currently, Youyiguan Port handles an average of about 1,500 vehicles per day. Once the China-Vietnam smart ports are fully operational, the clearance capacity at Youyiguan Port will double, facilitating connectivity between China and ASEAN.

"To accelerate construction progress, we completed the excavation of 1.28 million cubic meters of earth and rock within three months, established the comprehensive inspection platform for the smart port, and added 72 intelligent inspection bays," said Liang Baoming, commander of the China-Vietnam Youyiguan Freight Channel Smart Port project.

The total investment for the smart port project is 1.06 billion yuan ($145 million), utilizing satellite navigation, 5G technology, intelligent transport guidance vehicles, and large-scale automated lifting equipment. Combined with intelligent inspection systems and a smart command dispatch platform, it is expected to achieve intelligent operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"After completion, port clearance will operate 24 hours non-stop, enabling goods to be transported from Nanning, Guangxi, to Bac Giang and Bac Binh provinces in Vietnam within 24 hours," said Shi Lei, deputy director of Youyiguan Customs.
